We all know how great Marrickville is.

Vibrant communities, cultures coming together, great food, shopping and entertainment. But where do you go just to meet friends and hang out?  To check out a busker?  To see a great band in a public space?  To see and be seen?  To keep an eye on your kids while you have a coffee with a friend?  As great as our suburb is - we are desperately short of public, civic spaces where we as a community, can come together.

Marrickville needs a ‘Town Square’.

And the thing is – we already have the space for it!   We believe we have the most incredible opportunity to convert the ugly little carpark on Illawarra road (opposite the Banana Wollies) into a large, central, public space for all the community!

We want to see jazz bands on Sundays, restaurant tables around the side, a place for kids to play, record and book fairs, markets, cultural displays, buskers, public seating so you can play cards with yr mates, and most importantly… a place to eat your Banh Mi!

We call on Inner West Council to convert this place into the central, vibrant, beating heart our community deserves.
