We Want Justice for Dr. DiDi (R-G-Kar case)—(team Alipurduar)
The Issue
As a deeply concerned individual, I am compelled to address the troubling event that unfolded in Kolkata. The devastating incident involving Dr. Abhaya, a victim of a gruesome rape, is more than just a case. It's a glaring reflection of the pervasive violence against women in our society, a persistent issue that's resonated deeply within me.
Like countless others, I am outraged by this crime, not only because of the horror that Dr. Abhaya had to endure but also due to the signal it sends to all women across our region, that our safety, dignity, and rights are discounted. Dr. Abhaya's tragedy isn't an anomaly, instead, it exemplifies a broader crisis, a pattern that continues to threaten the lives of women in West Bengal and beyond.
In 2019, the National Crime Records Bureau recorded 4,05,861 instances of crime against women in India [Source: "Crime In India" 2019 report by NCRB]. This glaring reality calls for immediate action that can no longer be postponed.
This petition is a desperate plea for justice. A plea for the swift prosecution of the perpetrators involved in the distressing case of Dr. Abhaya. A plea for the enforcement of strict laws to deter those who might contemplate similar heinous acts.
Finally, this petition is an expression of solidarity. To let every woman in West Bengal know that they are not alone in this fight. That we stand with them, just as we stand with Dr. Didi
We call upon you to join us, to raise your voice, and to demand an end to the violence. Let's show the strength of our unity and the power of our demand. By signing this petition, you're not only seeking justice for Dr. Abhaya but also aiding in the fight against violence towards women that plagues our society. Please sign this petition and demand justice now.
