We Want Greenwood Academies Trust to Review the Relocation of Nottingham Academy Primary
The Issue
Petition to Review the Relocation of Nottingham Academy Primary
We, the parents and carers of children at Nottingham Academy Primary, are asking for the decision to relocate the school to be formally reviewed.
Although meetings took place, many parents feel that these meetings did not provide a genuine opportunity to express their views, raise concerns or have any meaningful influence over the decision. Parents were largely informed that the relocation was going ahead, rather than being given a proper opportunity to discuss whether the move was in the best interests of our children and families.
We believe parents should have been given a meaningful voice before such a significant decision was made.
The relocation has had a direct impact on our children, families and the wider school community.
The relocation has also created a serious parking problem for parents and local residents. There is not enough suitable parking around the new site, leaving parents with very limited options when dropping off and collecting their children. As a result, many parents are being forced to park further away or in restricted areas and are receiving parking tickets, despite simply trying to safely drop off or collect their children. This situation is causing unnecessary stress and financial hardship for families and is putting additional pressure on an already overcrowded area. The parking arrangements should have been properly considered before the relocation, and we strongly ask that this issue is urgently reviewed alongside our concerns about the new site.
We are therefore asking the school and the relevant decision-makers to:
Review the decision to relocate the school.
Properly listen to and consider the concerns of parents and carers.
Explain how the decision was reached and how parents’ views were considered.
Consider whether returning to the previous location is possible.
Give parents a genuine opportunity to participate in discussions about the school’s future location.
This petition demonstrates that there is significant concern among parents and carers about the relocation. We respectfully ask that the decision is reconsidered and that parents are given a meaningful voice in determining what is best for our children and the school community.
