Thank you again for being one of the many who have signed our petition. We are currently fewer than 500 signatures away from reaching the impressive 20,000 mark.
On March 14, 2022, less than six weeks from today, it will be exactly five years since the US Department of Justice decided to unseal (meaning to reveal to the public the existence of documents issued by the court that had been secret for the previous four years) the 2013 federal terror charges against Jordanian fugitive Ahlam Tamimi.
Along with the unsealing, Tamimi became - and remains - only the second female on the FBI Most Wanted Terrorists list.
But just six days later, in an extraordinary Jordanian move, the kingdom's highest appellate court ruled invalid the extradition treaty between the Bill Clinton administration and King Hussein's monarchy. This despite the fact that a string of Jordanian fugitives had been extradited to the US to be tried and, in every case, convicted there.
In the coming weeks, we plan to draw the media's attention to what we learned this past year (when we sued the US government and succeeded) about what really happened all those years ago when the treaty was brought into existence. It's shocking in itself but more disturbing still that the news industry avoids reporting it.
A special thank you to the many Australians who have signed on in the past few weeks. And if one of you can email me (at thisongoingwar@gmail.com) to share how and where you learned about our petition, that would be greatly appreciated.
And this request: If you have practical ideas and suggestions for raising public awareness and steps we can take to get Tamimi into a Washington court-house, we will be very glad to hear from you.
Finally, my wife Frimet and I are hoping to be able to share with you news of some additional developments in the coming weeks.
Good wishes
Arnold Roth
