We the undersigned believe Stretford Public Hall should be a community facility providing activities for local people, so we support the proposals for community ownership and operation proposed by Friends of Stretford Public Hall.

The Issue

Trafford Council are selling Stretford Public Hall!

Stretford Public Hall is the beautiful Grade II Listed Building on the corner of Chester Road and Kingsway in Stretford. Once home to Stretford Civic Theatre, it was built for the local community by John Rylands in 1878. Since then it has had over 107 years of community use. The building is now under threat as Trafford Council are selling it. Our Hall deserves better than convertion to private use by a corporate developer! Our vision is to re-open the hall as a vibrant resource at the heart of our community.

Stretford Public Hall is the perfect location for a resaurant or cafe; weddings and conferences; music, comedy, theatre and dance events; parties for young and old; the arts; offices; community groups; health, well-being and so much more. We want to nurture local business, create jobs, and put the heart back in to Stretford.

Friends of Stretford Public Hall is a not for profit company, run by a network of local volunteers who are bidding to buy the building. Through public consultation and with the help of local professionals we are creating a viable business plan. The right mixture of commercial and community use of Stretford Public Hall will help generate our town centre. Join the growing support to keep your hall public.
