We the undersigned ask the East Hampton Town Board to opt out of the May Turkey Hunt

The Issue

The Town of East Hampton is planning to add a Spring Turkey Hunt.  It will extend from May 1 to May 25, the Thursday before Memorial Day.

This hunt is problematic for several reasons.

 1. There's a safety risk as visitors increasingly       come to town in May.
     2. Turkeys help us by eating ticks.
     3.  Residents enjoy watching turkeys.
     4.  Turkeys are sentient beings. Like humans, they feel fear, joy, anger, and many other emotions. And like us they want to live.

Please sign this petition and also write the Town Board to oppose this new hunting season. It will consider the matter at the Thursday, March 16 meeting, at 11 am. at the town hall.

Emails of the Board members are:
The Supervisor  Peter Van Scoyoc
PVanScoyoc@EHamptonNY.Gov

Sylvia Overby
SOverby@EHamptonNY.Gov

Cate Rogers
CRogers@EHamptonNY.Gov

David Lys
