We the people want a 32-hour workweek, with no loss in pay
The Issue

Millions of people in the US are battling stress and exhaustion. Since the Fair Labor Standards Act set the 40-hour standard in the 1940s, productivity has risen more than 400%, yet wages have not kept pace and long hours remain the norm. The result is strained mental and physical health, and a working life that too often brings frustration instead of fulfillment.
We built one of the most productive workforces in the world. It's time our work weeks reflected that. It's time for a change, one that prioritizes our health and happiness while strengthening the economic vitality of our communities.
A 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay or benefits.
This isn't a theory. It's already working. Real-world tests in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, Iceland, Portugal, New Zealand, and elsewhere show that a shorter workweek can maintain or even improve productivity while boosting quality of life.
The UK's 2022 trial was such a success that 89% of the companies involved were still working a shorter week a year later. In Iceland, trials with more than 2,500 workers, over 1% of the country's workforce, found that productivity held steady or increased in most workplaces while work-life balance got better.
Why support it
- Less stress and burnout for workers
- More time for family, health, rest, and hobbies
- Fewer commuting days, which means less traffic on our roads
Sign to urge the government to make 32 hours the standard workweek, with no loss in pay or benefits. Help make the case for an investment in our people, our economy, and our shared future.
