Wind measurements: During the initial stages, Borrego will typically install a free-standing meteorological measurement tower (also known as a "met tower") to collect data from measuring instruments on local wind speeds and other conditions to make sure the site is acceptable for wind energy. Met towers are under 198 feet in height and are temporary, usually in place for a period of 12 months and typically removed before construction begins on the project. Met towers are crucial in the placement of wind turbines, as precise knowledge of the windspeed is necessary to know how much energy will be produced, and whether the turbines will perform well on the site.

Putting the MET Tower in place will by no means “grandfather” an application for the two turbines to be constructed.  This is an entirely separate process that still needs the approval of the Town Board.

Please remember with the construction of these two turbines:

Middleburgh will receive tax relief.  The County will receive tax relief.
The Middleburgh Central School District will receive tax relief.

It will be substantial tax dollars that will be taken off the table if it is refused by the town board.  We have not heard any suggestions from those opposed to replace the lost dollars the community will lose out on.  Please take the time to sign the petition in favor of the turbines and MET tower.  https://chng.it/7mcDYhQXwF  THANK YOU!
