My fellow citizens of the world,

Now is the time to build a New United Nations that serves us all.

75 years ago, the world came together to form the United Nations. 

World leaders agreed to unite for the betterment of our world. To form a global community with compassion, cooperation and collective responsibility at its core. Outcomes which impact every one of us.

So far, the UN has failed in its mission. It has lost sight of the action and transformation required to deliver its promise to every generation.

Instead, inequality, lack of ambition and inefficient bureaucracy reign. 

The time to demand A New UN is right now.

A new generation must restore the UN’s vision and re-establish its purpose: to serve the ordinary citizens of our world.

The next Secretary-General must be someone who can lead this change. To ensure action over empty words.

In 2015, the UN General Assembly passed Resolution 69/321 for greater transparency and inclusiveness. It stated that Secretary-General candidates no longer need state backing in order to stand.

YET the UN has still to acknowledge my candidacy and clearly communicate the steps for the selection process. 

The time to act is right now.

I urge you to do your part to hold the powerful to account and ensure that the UN holds a free and fair election. We deserve to be heard. The world is ready for A New UN #ANewUN #AroraForSG.
