We’re Losing Our Homes Too — Ontario Landlords Need Protection Now

The Issue

Imagine working your whole life, investing your savings into a home — only to be locked out of it, left unpaid for months, and powerless to take it back. That’s the reality for thousands of small landlords in Ontario right now.

I’m not a corporation. I’m a regular person. Like many others, I became a landlord to build a better future — to support my family, save for retirement, or simply survive rising costs. But the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) system is failing people like me, every single day.

As of July 2024, there are over 46,000 unresolved cases at the LTB. That’s 46,000 people waiting. Hoping. Hurting.

We’re left chasing tenants who haven’t paid rent for months.
We wait a year or more just for a hearing.
We pay mortgages, property taxes, utilities — while someone else lives for free.
We’re ignored, dismissed, and told to “be patient.”

We’re losing our homes too.
We’re going broke.
We’re exhausted.

This isn’t justice. This is abandonment.

Meanwhile, tenants who exploit the system suffer no consequences. They know the loopholes. They know the delays. And they take full advantage of them — while the people who own the homes have no protection.

We are calling on the Government of Ontario and the Landlord and Tenant Board to take urgent action:

Clear the backlog of 46,000+ cases — now.
Close legal loopholes that bad-faith tenants use to delay eviction.
Create a fast, fair process that protects landlords and tenants equally.
Restore respect, dignity, and balance to Ontario’s rental system.
If landlords continue to walk away, there will be fewer rental homes. Less affordability. More crisis.

This is not just about money — it’s about people, families, and fairness.

Please sign this petition and help us demand justice for the forgotten side of Ontario’s housing story.
