This petition is dedicated to the young child I volunteer tutor guiding them with structured literacy lessons, E.M. The background picture is from 2 years ago, when they were in third grade. Recently they told me "My teacher lied. She said children who are bilingual are smart, but I'm dumb"...I reminded them about the book we read together "The Brain Is Kind of a Big Deal" and how it wasn't their fault that their brain works differently - that it was the fault of ADULTS who FAILED and continue to FAIL at recognizing and working with this difference. This effort is for you E.M. may you believe in your greatness and the power of your magnificent brain.

Esta petición está dedicada a un estudiante a quien guio con lecciones de lectoescritura structurada.  E.M. - La imagen de fondo es de hace 2 años, cuando estaba en tercer grado. Recientemente me dijo "Mi maestra mintió. Dijo que los niños bilingües son inteligentes, pero yo soy tonto"... Le recordé del libro que leímos juntos "El cerebro es increible" y cómo no debe de culparse porque su cerebro funciona de manera diferente, que fue culpa la merecen los ADULTOS que FALLARON y continúan FALLANDO en reconocer y trabajar con esta diferencia. Este esfuerzo es para ti E.M. que creas en tu grandeza y en el poder de tu magnifico cerebro.
