We invite all dentists to take action and disagree with Opencare unfair charges, suppressing and dominant advertising strategies and encouraging disloyalty in patients:

Opencare has been actively working in the past 3-4 years as an advertising company.
In the past few months, traces of unethical actions are being observed in their activities, which affects dentists and patients significantly.
1. Suppressing all other online activities:  They have been tracing all other Google activities and bidding over what ever the dental offices try to put online.
This will literally suppress most online activities that dental offices aim to perform to attract new patients.
This behaviour is worse than Piggybacking.

2. Encouraging window-shopping attitude amongst patients: They provide incentives and encourage patients to visit a new dental office and receive a gift card.
This destroys patients’ loyalty.

3. Raising the charges to a level that is not affordable by dental offices anymore: They are now asking for 400$ per patient.

Some calculations:
Fact 1: ODA fee guide has not increased.
Fact 2: Opencare patients are mostly not returning and mostly do not accept FMX.
Fact 3: Each appointment will cost hygienist+ receptionist+ assistant + (maybe associate dentist) + New PPE guidelines which is roughly 120$ (without the associate)
Fact 4: 95% of the Opencare appointment hardly include COE+FMX+ scaling with the income of 380$-480$
Fact5: Let’s do the calculations: ROI (Return-Of-Income) = Appointment Income - Opencare charges - office charges = 400 – 400 – 120 = - 120

This means even if there are no associate dentist costs, each Opencare appointment will make the dentist pay $120 out of pocket.

This is impossible to afford.

4. Building a monopolized empire: Weather a dentist decides to go with them or stay away from them; the truth is no one can compete neither their advertising specialties nor the money they invest in the market.

So in the end, for our businesses to survive we have no other choice but to join them and accept their terms.

5. Impact on public health:
To compensate Opencare charges patients will be advised to more expensive and more aggressive treatment plans and will be provided low quality dental material.
The consequences are against RCDSO mandate of protecting public and dentists from financial and moral injustice.
We hereby are requesting ODA to help its community by approaching RCDSO.
We are requesting our college to urgently help public and dentists by putting regulations on dental offices in terms of partnership protocols with Opencare.
If no dental office is allowed –by college regulations- to undergo such partnership, Opencare will be indirectly banned from this way of moving forward.
This will impact the dentists within the network for a short while, but in long run, it will be beneficial for all dentists and all patients.
The next step will be approaching ministry of health and media.
