Below is the CDC's PrEP resources page. Our Nation's Center for Disease Control is further out in front of this than LGBTQ organizations, Women's Rights groups, Minority rights advocates, Income Inequality advocates. WHY? Stigma. This isn't acceptable. The FLU can be prevented inexpensively. If, because of my family history of heart disease I can go on Statins BEFORE I need them and maintain good heart health, why wouldn't I-- if vaccinations are effective (which they are)-- then why not take a safe drug that is proven to prevent HIV transmission 70-90% of the time & with safe sex practices 100%.

PrEP can also, be used much like Naloxone to stop an Opioid overdose if a person knows they've been infected with the virus. It's not hard to know. You get a very bad flu like illness soon after infection. Using Truvada at that time may prevent the seroconversion that then would require hundreds of thousands of dollars in treatment & the human cost of living with HIV disease. We need to ACT! There is no good reason why this country is not educating, and making available to everyone, a drug that prevent HIV. NONE!

In the early 80s at the height of the AIDS Epidemic, ACT UP and GMHC were in the streets because, in America-- mostly Gay Men were dying of a new disease and fighting for their lives. ACT UP often went up against the CDC to fight. Sometimes the activists were right & sometimes the CDC was right-- but the dialogue created talk and action. Now our best doctors are fighting for this policy. Making PrEP part of sex education, making it available for high risk groups.

Please educate yourselves & then Start Talking to Stop HIV.

Yours, Will
