We All Pay the Price: Make Auto Insurance Affordable in Ontario!

Le problème

I wish the Government of Ontario would finally take action to make auto insurance fair and affordable for every driver in this province.

Every day, hardworking Ontarians are struggling just to stay on the road. Many of us need our cars to get to work, take our kids to school, or care for our families. Yet we pay some of the highest auto insurance premiums in Canada, often double what drivers in Quebec pay, even when we have clean records and years of safe driving.

The system feels broken. Costs keep rising. Auto theft and fraud are out of control and regular drivers are the ones paying for it. People are charged more because of where they live, how old they are, or how long they have lived in Canada. Young workers, seniors and new families are being pushed into financial stress.

Driving is not a luxury here. It is essential to life in Ontario. But today, too many families must choose between paying for car insurance or paying for groceries and rent.

Why this matters to me
I am a working parent trying to support my family. I have a clean record and years of safe driving experience. I have lived here for several years and always follow the rules. But I still pay around 6,000 dollars every single year just for auto insurance.

This is not because I did something wrong. It is because the system does not properly value experience outside Canada, and because our rates are already very high for everyone. I work hard, I pay taxes, and I try to do everything right but it still feels like I am being punished for things I cannot control.

I know I am not alone. Many people born here also struggle with the exact same issue. Families, students, young workers and seniors are all feeling the pressure. This is about fairness for everyone who drives responsibly.

What we are asking for
I believe we deserve:

• A fair and transparent auto insurance system
• Rates that reward safe and responsible driving
• A model that brings down costs for everyone, just like in Quebec
• Real action on theft and fraud so that criminals, not families, pay the price
• Clear rules that stop drivers from being overcharged because of age or postal code

Ontario drivers carry a burden we can no longer afford. It is time for real reform.

Who can help
We are calling on Premier Doug Ford and the Government of Ontario to:

Review and overhaul the auto insurance system to make it fair for all drivers
Stop allowing endless rate increases while wages stay the same
Work with law enforcement and border agencies to reduce auto theft
Publish real solutions and timelines to bring Ontario premiums closer to Quebec levels
Our Future
Ontario should be a place where working families can succeed and where safe driving is respected. A place where young workers do not feel punished for starting out. A place where seniors can afford to stay mobile. A place where newcomers who want to contribute are welcomed fairly.

I want to live in an Ontario where doing the right thing actually matters. This change will help thousands of families and make our province stronger.
