Thank you for your continued support - we now have over 26,000 signatures. At the moment we are waiting for the DA section to be submitted to Waverley Council before we are able to view it. This could take weeks or months.
A Facebook group has been set up as per the link below, which is keeping track of when the Council release the proposal. If you're a Bondi/Waverly/Wentworth local, please join the group for more information as to how you can help.
If you're not a Bondi/Waverly/Wentworth local, but you are a Bondi lover, please share the petition. We need to keep growing signatures to show the Council and Amalfi Beach Club just how many people love Bondi and want to keep it for everyone.
The plan from here (taken from the group):
Once the Council released the proposal:
- will be shared in the group for everyone to read and provide feedback.
- Feedback will be reviewed and collated and again shared with the group.
- A Govt e-petition will then be drafted and lodged.
- We will also request a Minister to present our petition at NSW Parliament.
- It is important to note that under NSW Parliament guidelines, we can run our Govt e-petition for 1 week, 3 weeks or 12 weeks. The timing here is crucial for maximum impact. (We will check when Waverley Council receives the additional DA submission and what timeframe Council works to, to publish their recommendation.
- The Council will then invite community for their feedback.)
- Each step we take will be transparent, legal and wherever possible we will protect people's privacy.
- In the meantime, constituents are petitioning their local 12 councillors of the 4 wards.
Bondi Beach Precinct also opposes the beach club proposal. Which is great news! The more the merrier on our side! - In the meantime, please write to your local MP, Minister for Planning, or Minister for Environment with your concerns.
