Greetings petition signers, You have probably heard by now that the Village Board unanimously denied the T. Wall rezone. A huge thank you to everyone who attended or sent in comments. We estimated over the two meetings that at least 100 village residents attended or submitted comments, which greatly assisted our board in making the right decision. This is a major step in preventing the project to completion on that site, but T. Wall could still come back. We all must continue to remain vigilant in our opposition. We plan to keep this petition open until at least the 2019 Village Board election and share important meeting information on an as needed basis. However, there is another major meeting coming up tomorrow (Monday) night. The Public Works Committee (meeting at 5:30pm; Village Hall) is meeting and DOT representatives will be on hand to discuss pedestrian issues in the downtown area. A few years ago, the village applied to put pedestrian flashers in at the intersection of Water and Main Streets (like the existing one at South Street), but the application was denied because of the close proximity to the Madison Street stoplight. The village wants the DOT to reconsider so we can have a pedestrian and bicycle friendly downtown that is safe for residents, shoppers, and visitors.
