Hi petition signers, We apologize for the recent long string of updates, but we have some important election news to share that will affect if the Wall project is approved. Anyone interested in running for Village Board, Town Boards, or the School Board can file nomination papers until Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at 5:00 pm at the office of each of the listed municipalities. The following are the seats up for election in Waunakee/Westport, Springfield/Vienna, and the School Board. There are no geographic wards in Waunakee, Springfield, Vienna, or Westport, so anyone can run no matter where they may reside in the village or township. The school board defines municipalities as wards, but anyone within the school district boundaries can vote for them. All terms begin in April, and a primary will be held February 20th if necessary. Waunakee Village Board: Gary Herzberg Dr. Bill Ranum Steve Kraus Town of Westport: Terry Enge (approved Bishop's Bay, bisecting of farmland by bike paths, and wildlife daycare center) Mark Trotter (approved wildlife daycare center) Waunakee School Board: Peggy Hill-Breunig (not running for reelection; currently holding seat) - Town of Westport/Cities of Madison and Middleton Mark Hetzel - Town of Vienna Springfield Town Board: Arthur Meinholz Daniel Dresen Vienna Town Board: Gary Endres Ron Rupp While we have members who would be interested in running for some of these seats, none of them can do so for personal reasons. However, we hope to see other citizens interested in community involvement and that some will run for office. To Note: Many citizens have seen the article in the Tribune and the editorial about us. We are pleased that the Tribune decided to write articles about us, but we have not published an update yet due to the fact that the articles are not yet available electronically.
