We, as a group, would like to convey our thanks and support to the Waunakee Board of Education approval of the plan to make masks optional during summer school and the upcoming 2021-22 school year.

The rationale of mask use has been questioned by many throughout the last year with reasonable arguments on each side.  As a group we are pleased in witnessing the continued reduction in COVID-19 infections following the elimination of Dane County’s mask mandate on June 2nd. 

We have all sacrificed so much in the last year and thank the members of the board for their service through these challenging times. 

We the undersigned encourage the board to continue to listen to all concerns related to COVID.  However, we would like to voice our concern that a loud minority voice against your decision to make masks mandatory does not represent that of a majority of residents at this time. 

We are thankful of your decision earlier this year to return our children to in-person classrooms and we offer our support of your decision to make masks optional.  Should a challenge arise to your decision we the undersigned stand ready to support you!
