Piles Coppice is mentioned in the Wildlife Trust's Annual Report.

The Trust held a half hour online AGM yesterday with questions only relating to the Agenda.

Their 2021 Annual Report was on the Agenda, although it wasn’t actually mentioned except for a question from us regarding Piles Coppice and the comment it contained about "significant negative engagement from a small pressure group”.

Their response to the fact that there were over 2000 people objecting was “We don’t know who they are”.

So, you could be anybody and clearly your opinion doesn’t count.

They claimed the reference was to the small group of people they had been talking to, (although not recently, we were told 2 years ago that the matter was closed).

So, they are ignoring you as well as all the people who took the trouble to write to them, including our MP and a number of local wildlife and woodland experts and they are giving their members a totally false impression in their report.

We have expressed concern about this in writing to the Trustees along with everyone’s reasons for wanting this rare and precious wood left alone. We have also asked once again to meet the Trustees. The last time we wrote to them they did not respond.

It is interesting that in the last week, there has been huge publicity about the need for greater protection of our ancient trees.

Piles Coppice actually has a Tree Preservation order, but it is being overruled so that its ancient trees can be felled.
