
Most of our petitioners are local people so will probably know that the Coppice anemones are out and the bluebells will not be far behind this year. There are also celandines, primroses and stitchwort currently in flower.
Many of the resident birds are busy nesting and some of the migrant warblers have arrived.
We are pleased to report that the wood is still intact, although the threat of felling still remains.
Despite all its negatives, Covid has actually provided 2 advantages. One is that more people have discovered this treasure of a wood and are supporting our efforts to preserve it and the other is Zoom. Over the last 2 years we have been able to sit in on tree related webinars from all around the world. Many telling us of the vital importance of preserving mature trees, especially in our woodlands, which is exactly what we have been trying so hard to say about our beautiful, precious Coppice trees.
