DON'T TAKE ANY MORE SH#T FROM WARREN SHIRE COUNCIL
The issue
Warren Shire Council has surreptitiously installed a direct pipeline from their new sewerage settlement and evaporation ponds directly into the Ewenmar Creek. A similar plan was knocked back many years ago as the Ewenmar is now a non-flow creek. Landholders along the creek, including the Aboriginal community, knew nothing about this pipe, neither did councillors elected to represent us, or some senior council staff who should have been involved in a decision like this.
Council has gone from stating the pipe would only be opened in “times of high rainfall”, to saying “only during flooding”, and according to their website, “with planned re-use of the treated effluent for beneficial purposes”???????
As many long-term locals would remember, the Ewenmar was once a major local watercourse with an abundance of wildlife, including platypus, native water rats, fish varieties, turtles and birds. Now, not only is it a non-flow creek that is reduced to pools of water in times of low rainfall, if this pipeline is not removed, the creek will become a stinking cesspool of sewerage. The water will then become unusable. This will also devalue the properties on the creek.
