Warehouse Your Concerns

Warehouse Your Concerns
The Issue
As someone who grew up in our fiery small town I know that there have been a few things that have been shot dead in the water without even a rope thrown to pull them ashore. The ideas and concerns about how to update and grow this town gets overwhelming. Ideas are too small sometimes and they don't really address a need. Pullman was supposed to be a meca but instead it is like a flea market. This isn't their fault. Jobs and being able to financially establish yourself are concerns for everyone. Something new always seem to put down and take away from what started this town. I would like to bring to light some of my ideas for change in the area.
First of all, homelessness and tons of low income housing should be addressed. Police patrolling a single area and our taxpayers funding programs aren't really what this town wants to be concerned about. I agree. This town shouldn't have to burden so much hardship. My suggestion is what everyone says sarcastically but very realistic. Put it all in a box.
Since homelessness is closely tied with job security and that is being decreased by job retention efforts we should think of what we can offer everyone a little differently. If we were able to build a condominium for the homeless which also tied into job training that might interest them this would instantly add to our towns potential revenue which is shared amongst every business. If we brought in people capable of teaching in a up to date spa facility it would give a lot of women more options on careers since most women like working from home or partime. Also, it would open up physical training jobs which would be great for Marshall and men and women alike. Everyone could learn together so nobody feels ashamed. Yes, this would be a big expensive low income facility but it would be capable of generating how ever much this city plans to get out of every apartment and student.
Another thing is recycling. This is a hot topic because nobody wants metal prices to go up. So, we could build a plastic and paper recycling plant. This would offer jobs to everyone. From running forklifts, to quality assurance on a line, to packaging toilet paper and bottle caps. Anyone who is disabled could probably find a job if they wanted.
Now, I know this sounds okay but who wants a big homeless shanty to call college and a stinky plant in the middle of town? There are other places to put them. Huntington does have a warehouse district and the animal shelter has desperately needed a bigger facility for years. Not to mention volunteers and donations. And yes, WV is very green minded so it will not be emitting anything but steam. This will take the recycling burden off of the middle east since they could not handle the sophisticated facilities and poisoned their water supply with plastics. This costs America in fines to clean up and to pay them back for the harm it did. As for the condominium, since we are green minded it should be able to have yards on every balcony offering fruiting trees and big courtyards for campus and fellowship. Places like these exist in places like the middle east already. This would mean updating our sewage plant, but that could be another course for a low income campus offered to those who want a town that doesn't need to be patrolled and who aren't afraid to fail, try again, and succeed.
