This petition is being circulated by concerned residents of Wanham, AB.

We are requesting urgent action from Birch Hills County to replace the unsafe and deteriorating playground in Wanham.

Our goal is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for children, families, and the future of our community.

We urgently request that Birch Hills County prioritize the complete upgraded replacement of the Wanham community playground.

Current conditions pose serious safety risks and include:

• Broken chains and bent posts on swings

• Uneven, hazardous ground and unmarked tree stumps

• Picnic tables missing key support beams

The remaining playground equipment is not only outdated but dangerous. The loss of the sturdy and much-loved merry-go-round has made the site even less safe and far less appealing.

A safe, engaging playground is essential for:

• Children’s physical and social development

• Community pride and quality of life

• Attracting new families to our area

Families deserve a safe green space with reliable playground equipment, shaded seating (such as a gazebo), and a welcoming environment for all ages.

We respectfully request Birch Hills County to:

• Address these safety hazards immediately

• Work toward building a safe, modern, inclusive playground and green space

• Utilize available grants and community fundraising efforts.
