Bradley Scales started this petition to Waka Kotahi and

More and more housing has been created in the northwestern areas of Auckland, namely Kumeu, Huapai and Whenuapai. There has been a total negligence in keeping up infrastructure in these areas, mainly roads, to a standard relevant with the amount of traffic and population growth. Another recent crash on the Brigham Creek road bridge highlights just how bad things have gotten. Two trucks couldn't possibly fit over that bridge at the same time, and it is tight when two cars pass. A lot of cars feel they need to go over the centre line when crossing this bridge as is, which shows just how narrow it feels already. Factor in bad weather, no visibility at night due to no street lighting or a bad driver and you have recipe for disaster.  The alternative route entails an extra 5.8kms, through streets not designed to handle the extra through flow.

With the recent change of rates in Kaipara Ki Mahurangi to "Urban", we should only demand that we get treated as such. Therefore this petition demands three things:

1. Install temporary orange pegs down the centre of the road to give a visual aid in traversing the bridge.

2. Widen the bridge to a reasonable width and include walking and cycling lanes to align with Auckland Transports master plan.

3. NZTA Waka Kotahi to commence works on the SH16/SH18 interconnect to provide an alternative means of transport through this area.
