Vote on the proposed tax cut for North Hempstead before the November 20 deadline!

Vote on the proposed tax cut for North Hempstead before the November 20 deadline!
The Issue
As reported in Newsday and elsewhere, Democrats on the North Hempstead Town Council proposed an amendment to the 2025 budget submitted by Supervisor DeSena, to cut Town taxes by an historic 22% ($5 million dollars) without cutting any of the services provided to residents. Instead, their proposal would use the excessive surplus held by the Town in the general fund and return it to taxpayers.
It’s not the Town’s money. It’s ours. It should be returned to us.
At the Town board meeting on Tuesday, November 12, Supervisor DeSena unexpectedly adjourned the meeting just before the amendment was scheduled to be considered, effectively silencing discussion of the proposed tax cut and denying the public the opportunity to be heard.
If a meeting is not held by November 20, Supervisor DeSena’s budget will be enacted automatically without this tax cut. But it’s not too late. There is still time to schedule a meeting and hold a vote before the deadline.
We, the residents of North Hempstead, demand that the Supervisor hold a special meeting before November 20 to vote on this proposed amendment!
Please sign and share this petition, and please call the Supervisor's office at 516-869-6311 or email her at desenaj@northhempsteadny.gov and ask her to adopt the tax cut plan NOW, before November 20!
