Vote No on Washington Initiative 638 to Protect Trans Kids
The Issue
I’m speaking up because this is bigger than one slogan or one campaign talking point. When I say vote no on Washington Initiative 638, I’m talking about real kids, real students, and real families who have to live with the consequences of what gets put on the ballot and what gets passed. This is about transgender youth rights, bodily autonomy, and whether students get to exist at school without being singled out and politicized.
Supporters of measures like this love to frame everything around "protecting girls in sports," but too often what that really means is more scrutiny, more policing of kids’ bodies, and more invasion of privacy for student athletes. That does not make anyone safer. It creates fear, humiliation, and discrimination, especially for trans kids who are already being targeted just for being who they are. We should not be writing exclusion and suspicion into public life under the excuse of fairness.
Washington voters have a responsibility to reject policies that put students in harm’s way and turn classmates into political talking points. Voting no on Initiative 638 means saying our state will not endorse gender discrimination or force young people to prove themselves in order to belong. It means protecting student privacy, respecting bodily autonomy, and refusing to let any child be pushed out of sports, school, or community because of who they are.
If you believe every young person deserves dignity, safety, and the chance to participate without harassment, please sign this petition and stand with us. Tell Washington voters to reject Initiative 638 and protect trans kids.
