Dear Vape Shop Owner and Ally,

Two members of the Denver City Council – Darrell Watson and Shontel Lewis – are proposing a vaping flavor ban for the City and County of Denver, Colorado. The flavor ban is expected to be introduced in January 2025.  There is no draft ordinance as of October 1, 2024. 

Members of the Rocky Mountain Smoke Free Alliance (RMSFA) have been meeting with Denver Council members and Denver Mayor Michael Johnston’s office to stop the introduction, work to defeat, amend or change the proposed ordinance. 

We need your assistance to defeat this short-sighted ordinance that would bankrupt and destroy over 25 vape shops and RMSFA members in Denver.  Denver is the largest city in Colorado.  As Denver goes – so goes Colorado.  We must stop this ordinance.

In the near future, we will be providing you with a list of Denver City Council members to contact.  We are also engaging our social media and public relations partners to influence the Denver City Council.

Two years ago, we narrowly defeated the vaping flavor ban in Denver by one vote.  The Denver City Council has become more progressive and less tolerant of opposing viewpoints regarding vaping.

During the last five years, we have won 43 of the 52 Colorado municipal debates to prevent flavor bans. We also defeated four statewide flavor bans at the Colorado state legislature.

The battle continues in Denver.

Additionally, according to the CDC during the last five years, youth vaping both in Colorado and nationwide has reduced to record low numbers and beneath 6%. Our policies at the federal, state, and local government levels are having a positive and dramatic impact!
