Vote Against Proposition 314 in Arizona

Vote Against Proposition 314 in Arizona
The Issue
Proposition 314 threatens vulnerable communities, state and local law enforcement, and our right to due process. This bill, if passed, could lead to racial profiling, harassment, and unfair policing. Despite a state budget deficit, this bill expects that state and local law enforcement limit their budget to fund this underfunded mandate, a mandate requiring $41 million. This bill also has no protection from enforcement in places of worship or protection for children and asylum seekers. We must understand the potential harmful impacts before we cast our votes. By voting NO on Proposition 314, we are speaking up for those who have no vote in policymaking. We cannot allow this anti-immigrant narrative to continue. Raise your voice, cast your vote, and urge others to do the same. Please sign this petition in opposition of Proposition 314 today!
This proposition is currently on the ballot.
What does a "yes" vote support?
- It will be a state crime for noncitizens to enter the state at any location other than the port of entry.
- Both state and local police will have the right to arrest non-citizens who cross the border unlawfully. No probable cause is needed to arrest a person.
- state judges can order deportations
- The E-Verify program can be used to determine an individual's immigration status before enrolling for financial aid or a public welfare program
- Individuals who submit false information/documents to an employer fo the purpose of evading detection of employment eligibility, or to apply for public benefits will be classified as a Class 6 felony
- If a person knowingly sells fentanyl and it causes the death of another person, they will be charged with a Class 2 felony
U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego states, "In order to truly secure our border and keep Arizonans safe, we need to hire more border patrol agents, deliver crucial resources to our frontline border communities, and fix our broken asylum system. This bill does none of that."
Gov. Katie Hobbs argues, "HCR 2060 will hurt Arizona businesses, send jobs out of state, make it more difficult for law enforcement to do their jobs, and bust the state's budget. It will not secure our border."
