Hi everyone, I have initiated this petition for filing a case against VU for their FYP policy. Here is the listed problem, though I was complaining as a personal grievance, but it is a collective issue. So please if you agree with it, sign this petition to help make this case stronger. Overview of problem: 

1. CS619 final year project spanned on 2 semesters but they require complete final submission in first semester – if one needs extension within the duration of course the person needs to pay fine, and only one month extension is allowed
2. If one fails to submit any of the required documents due to a mishap etc, there is no 
   mitigation circumstances policy, even there was no such policy in the time of COVID
3. There are three documents required before submission of final project – if one fails in any oh these there is no reattempt for any doc and the entire year of student is wasted 

My proposal for policy change: 

Respected head and policy makers of CS619 department and VU!
 
I have disagreement with the CS619 policy. And I request you to review and change the policy. 

Problems in Policy:

1. You have restricted the project completion to only 4-5 months (first semester) whereas the project is for 6 credit hours and spanned for 1 year. 
2. If one suffers from a mishap, fails to submit a test phase or design document, or both of them, you keep the student waiting for another 6 months to continue the project. You waste the entire year of student. 
3. If one fails in the design document or test phase, you don’t allow a reattempt. There is another complete waste of one year. 

Changes needed in Policy:

1. Keep the SRS document, design document, and test phase to the first semester. For the 
   first 3 credit hours. 
2. Keep the final deliverable and final viva for next semester. For another 3 credit hours. 
3. Allow a reattempt to test phase, design document if one fails in it. Don’t waste entire year for failure of a single doc. 
4. Allow reattempt of final deliverable in next 6 months. Don’t hang students with one year of wastage for everything. 

Why the policy should be changed?

1. No one can execute a creative idea or custom project in 4-5 months as VU provides. 
2. Mostly students will go for an easy option, either they purchase the project, or never try to work on a custom project due to time constraint. 
3. Your policy is missing that students are humans they can be stuck in a mishap, you have no mitigation circumstances option
4. Take a review of your design document too, it requires test cases of entire projects use cases even when the project is jot created bcz it's the second document
