Update: More evidence collected – 1 in 3 drivers unsafe on Thornhill and adjoining Roads
Since launching this petition, I have spent hours manually recording traffic on Thornhill Road. The results are shocking but sadly not surprising:
➡️ Around 1 in 3 drivers are behaving dangerously, recklessly, or outright illegally.
This is not just numbers on a page. Thornhill Road has:
- A 31-room sheltered accommodation building
- A 90-room dementia care home
- Daily school traffic for children, parents, and teachers
That means elderly residents, disabled people, and schoolchildren are put at risk every single day.
Reckless driving is not “just the way it is.” Without traffic calming measures, it’s only a matter of time before there is another crash, and next time it could be far worse.
Please help by:
1. Sharing this petition again — wider reach means louder voices.
2. Asking friends, neighbours, and colleagues to sign.
3. Reminding Leeds City Council that this is evidence, not anecdote.
Together we can make Thornhill and surrounding roads safer.
