Violations of basic human rights and freedom by the Islamic Republic of Iran
The Issue
بخش فارسی در انتهای متن
Through this letter, we would like to draw your kind attention to our below statement and requests from the Czech Republic government and politicians.
Hereunder, we are going to name some of the violations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran. Please be advised that at this time, Iranians need your urgent attention and support in their fight for freedom and regaining their basic human rights. This letter is written with the hope that Czech government and politicians support freedom and human rights.
Our requests are mentioned in the ending part of this letter, after the statement.
For the past 43 years, Iran has been ruled by an Islamic dictatorship. Apart from the usual features which all the totalitarian regimes have in common, Iran’s case is aggravated by religious laws. These laws particularly affect lives of women, as well as minorities. Despite strong oppression, Iranian women have been fighting for their rights since 1848. However, when the Islamic Republic took the power in the country in 1979, Iranian women completely lost their basic human rights, such as:
Women in Iran are not allowed to work, study, marry or apply for a passport without the permission of their father or husband. They cannot file for divorce or have custody of their children unless their spouse allows them. (Violation of Article 23, paragraph 1, Article 16, paragraph 1 and Article 13, paragraph 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.)
According to Iran’s law, a woman is considered as half of a man; e.g. in courts, a testimony of a man is stronger than two women’s. Or as for heritage, a woman would get half of a man. Women in Iran must dress according to Islamic rules called hijab. Not wearing hijab is illegal and leads to get arrested and sometimes comes with imprisonment. (Violation of Articles 1 and 3.)
A few weeks ago, the morality police of Iran arrested a 22-year-old girl named Mahsa Amini, because of not wearing her hijab properly (Her hair was not fully covered). At the time of detention, she was beaten up to death. (Violation of Article 5.)
This ruthless murder brought Iranians to the streets, seeking justice for her and to protest against the Islamic dictatorship. The regime’s reaction was a bloody and brutal suppression, as usual. The regime’s armed forces arrested and killed many civilians, including children. Those who were arrested, were tortured and/or faced sexual abuse. (Violation of Article 20, paragraph 1.)
At this time, exactly the same as the large demonstrations in 2019, the Iranian regime has shut down the internet to prevent protesters from contacting the world, in order to slaughter people in silence. (Violation of Article 19.) According to Reuters, around 1500 civilians were killed in less than 2 weeks in 2019 by the Islamic regime.

Islamic totalitarianism in Iran denies basic rights not only to women, but also to religious minorities. For example, Bahai’s have no rights as Iranian citizens; even the right to get education. (Violation of Article 18.)
Iran’s law criminalizes homosexuality, which is punishable by death.
The regime has been committing systematic genocide and femicide for the last 43 years. As already mentioned, the greatest pressure is exerted on women, ethnic, religious and sexual minorities. (Violation of Article 2.)
Even children are not in safe side because of this regime, as Islamic Republic supports infanticide based on sharia law (in case a child not observing the Islamic rules properly, the father has the right to kill him/her).
Every year, many activists, bloggers and journalists get imprisoned and subsequently executed by this regime. Iran currently ranks FIRST in per capita executions in the world.

These are just some part of the violations of international law by the Iranian regime. Naming them all, would greatly exceed the bearable length of this letter.
In international scope, Iranians out of Iran always face terrorism from the regime. The Islamic government sometimes takes their families in Iran as hostages in order to silence or control them. Also, many Iranian activists were assassinated by Islamic Regime in Europe or have been kidnapped to be executed in Iran.
Even foreign tourists while visiting Iran may face the terrorist acts by this government. They may be taken as hostages under the label of espionage, so that Islamic Republic can leverage his requests in political talks with the western countries. Sometimes the regime asks for money to release the captured people. An example of this is Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who was for over 5 years in the prisons of the regime based on an accusation of espionage and in the end, after the payment of 530 million dollars by UK government, got released.
International air flights are also in danger in the air of Iran due to the terroristic nature of the regime. The Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 on 8 January 2020, was shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shortly after takeoff, killing all 176 passengers and crew aboard. Iranian authorities initially denied having any responsibility for the aircraft's destruction, but investigations by various intelligence agencies from the western world as well as by the Iranian public later revealed that it had been struck by two surface-to-air missiles.
Furthermore, Iranian diplomats working in the European countries (Iranian embassies or Islamic centers), systematically abuse their diplomatic immunities for weapon trafficking as well as organizing terrorism in Europe. A recent example is Asadollah Asadi, the Islamic regime’s diplomat in Austria, who was convicted in Belgium because of being involved in an attempted bombing in Paris.
Mykonos restaurant assassinations in Berlin, AMIA bombing in Argentina, the US embassy bombing in Lebanon, are just a few terrorism acts, in which traces of Islamic government involvement can be clearly found. The Islamic Republic of Iran is a great danger not only to the Middle East (due to its support and involvement in terrorism in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Afghanistan), but more broadly to the entire world. A recent example, is Iran’s strong support for Putin's aggression in Ukraine.
This is a fact that Peace and freedom in Iran will bring peace to the entire region and the world.
With respect and regard that Iran is currently occupied by the Criminal Clergies and IRGC, and people of Iran have been taken as hostages by them, we have the following requests from the Czech Republic government and politicians to support human rights and Freedom:
1. Delegitimize the Islamic Republic of Iran by closing embassies in Iran, as this Criminal regime is not the true representative of the country of Iran.
2. Avoid any cooperation or any type of relation and deal with the Terrorist Regime of Iran.
3. Expel all the Iranian diplomats and all their families from your country.
4. Announce the Islamic Regime as a Terrorist Regime.
5. Blacklist all Iranians connected to the regime and their families from entering Europe or having business here.
6. Take legal action to confiscate the assets, money and all belongings of the Iranians connected to the regime in Europe, as they are earned through organized crime in Iran and can be used for terrorism in Europe and in the US.
7. Take diplomatic action to remove Iran from the UN. The UN should not be a place for terrorist groups.
8. Be the voice of the Iranian people and our requests in international organizations, European Parliament, UN and political parties. Please don't be silent about the human and women's rights situation in Iran and mention our requests to boycott the terrorist regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.
