This was posted today by Helen Whitehead the current head of Thanet District Council. It’s a positive step forward in relation to at least one lift being put back in action. I would like to say Thank you to all of you for signing my petition. People power can really make a difference. I will continue to ensure what is promised happens. In fact I am attending a TDC meeting on 3rd June to give a short speech to the council.

Very pleased to be able to say that the Viking Bay Lift is due to open on the 21st of June, and that a report on full surveys and the future of the lifts will be addressed by Cabinet on the 17th of June.

We are hoping to have the Broadstairs lift up and running for the next five years after the initial round of repairs, (which will require ongoing investment) but the situation is unfortunately more difficult with the Ramsgate lift, as further surveys need to be done due to possible structural issues; but once we have costings, we will be in a much better position to make future plans for it.

Thank you to everyone who has contacted regarding the lift, and thank you to everyone who has supported Cabinet, Councillor Albon and members while we tried to ensure access for everyone.
