We support the unanimous call by the Warrnambool City Council for the Victorian State Government to cancel or postpone the 2020 Warrnambool May Racing Carnival to protect our community during the Covid-19 crisis.

Jumps racing is not an essential service.

No matter what protections are put in place for the May Races in Warrnambool on May 5 & 6, it is not worth the risk of spreading a deadly virus that we are all working so hard to contain.

Major sporting events around Australia have been either cancelled or postponed in these extraordinary and difficult times because public health must come first.

Premier Daniel Andrews must protect our community first.
