VICTORIA'S SECRET HAS BEEN SPILLED

The Issue

Victoria's Secret has long been the face of femininity and flirtation. The brand’s known for their angelic image and drop dead gorgeous models that they call their Angels.  These women were once guaranteed international stardom for strutting down the brand's catwalk but don’t let these celestial faces decisive you. Behind all that sex appeal; two misogynistic men. Leslie Wexner and Ed Razek's promotion of a hellish culture of sexism and harassment has finally been unearthed.  To top it all off, the use of unethical product production and work conditions have led to a truly horrific atmosphere. Times have changed and it’s time for this lingerie tyrant to do so as well.  Compared to companies like Aerie, Victoria Secret has failed to update its representation of all modern body types, continuing with its outdated practices of displaying slim, fair women. Six executives tried to lead the company into a different direction after countless negative experiences. Three of the six were driven out of the company. Victoria Secret promotes toxicity in women and has gotten away with it for too long. On many occasions models of the lingerie brand have posed naked for the company’s photographer without compensation. Unfortunately, with two discriminatory men at the helm of this brand, Victoria Secret has put too many women in dangerous environments. Ed Razek tried to kiss models. He asked them to sit on his lap. He even touched one inappropriately ahead of the 2018 Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Women, like Andi Muise, who have complained, have been fired. This must change.

A brand that is for women should have women involved at every step. According to Mckinsey & Company, it has been reported that employees with women managers are more likely to say that their manager has supported and helped them over the past years. In a company that puts women in vulnerable positions, many times half naked, it’s imperative that women feel comfortable. Compared to male managers, people have reported that female managers are 12% more likely to provide emotional support, minimizing a culture for sexual harassment to go so long unaddressed. The solution is clear: hire more women.

By signing this petition you are avoiding countless women from feeling unseen and unattractive. Don’t just boycott, girl-cott this company to end a vicious cycle of bullying. Sign your name. Make a change. Free those angels from Wexner’s grip.
