Dear Supporters, 

After a long municipal election, we have several new city councillors in Victoria. However, the question remains if they have the leadership to follow in the footsteps of cities such as Montreal recently and ban the horse carriages in Victoria. 

Last Thursday, I addressed Victoria city council directly and asked them to follow-through on the unfinished business of the last council by calling for a ban. Many councillors, including mayor Lisa Helps, said they would support a ban over the last few months during the election. We must hold them accountable and call on them to not let this issue fall by the wayside. More accidents will happen and the horses will continue to be worked in inhumane conditions.  Council must take action now. 

We will continue to hold this new council accountable and call on them to follow through on our long-standing, and the recent BCSPCA, recommendations to ban the horse carriages from Victoria city streets.
