The Nepean Highway Mt Martha between Craigie Road and Forest Drive is single lane, with dangerous intersections, community sports and leisure grounds and a major primary and secondary school bordering on it. It is also an 80kmh speed zone.

Today 11th Feb there was BAD accident at Uralla road and there seems to be a bad crash at the intersections of Craigie,  Forest or Range rd every month. It is only a matter of time before something bad happens at the school intersection as there is no applicable school zone area.

In the absence of matched funding and action by the state government and Peninsula Shire for major roadworks like road widening and roundabout building, we are asking that the whole length of Nepean Highway from Craigie rd to Forest Drive be reclassified from 80kmh to 60kmh as a mandatory change and also a school zone be considered at Balcombe Grammar.

This will at least be a good starting point, and help to reduce any more carnage until a more permanent solution can be developed.
