Twelve brand new overnight beach huts will be built at Highcliffe this year and will be available to rent as part of a television competition run by the producers of George Clarke's Amazing Spaces.

Winners of the competition will build twelve overnight beach huts at the beachfront between the Cliffhanger cafe and Highcliffe Castle.

Highcliffe ward councillor, Vicki Hallam, said: "Residents in Highcliffe will welcome this venture, as they've been calling for something to boost the economy. I don't recall this being asked of me so that is a huge assumption.

We are shocked at this terrible idea, especially when the council always said: Highcliffe would always be ‘’The Natural Part of the Area's coastline”, and Mudeford would have tourist things no further than Steamer point?

This in my opinion is going to get rid of the last bit of natural coastline, outside of West Dorset's Jurassic coastline. These huts/pods will detract from the appearance of the cliff face which is currently unspoiled by mans interference!
