VICE News: Report Punjab Protests and Police/State brutality from the front lines ASAP

The Issue

An uprising in Punjab is brewing and the Indian Government has issued a media blackout in the area. The Indian Government has sent in paramilitary forces and is enforcing brutal tactics to subdue peaceful protesters. So far, as of October 21st 2015 two protesters have been shot by police and 100s brutally injured (broken backs, bullet wounds, etc). The entire state of Punjab has been under shutdown, with protesters blocking all major railways and roads. The protesters are Sikhs who are demanding justice for multiple incidents of desecration of their holy scripture, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, which they regard as their living Guru. This incident is brewing into more than just a protest, it is becoming a full blown uprising against the ruling Punjab government and the Sikh religious governing body which is under direct control by the same Punjab government.

The Indian Government and Punjab Police have a history of genocidal tendencies towards Sikhs in India. The situation is eerily reminiscent of the environment which lead to the Sikh Genocide of 1984 and attack on the Golden Temple by the Indian Army.

We strongly urge VICE News specifically, out of all the other media companies, to report from the ground in Punjab what is happening. VICE News has been at the cutting edge of reporting from dangerous areas all across the globe, and getting the true details of situations from ground zero as they happen. We sincerely request Shane Smith, CEO of VICE Media to send out a brave team to Punjab to cover the protests and brewing uprising that is taking place. No national Indian media outlet is reporting on the story and if they have released any articles they are via proxy and display biased state opinion. This is a golden opportunity to expose the truth about  treatment of religious and ethnic minorities in "the world's largest democracy".
