I am a veteran and have done many tours in Northern Ireland, and I've started this petition because of the way that veterans benefits are paid out is broken - and many veterans are being driven into poverty and depression. Veterans uk / the mod need to lose control of war disablement pension claims .

I first claimed for a war disablement pension around 2007. However I feel in the last decade the system is failing veterans by declining nearly every claim submitted. Veterans are being dragged though tribunals that are unnecessary if the staff and system was fit for purpose .

I am dealing with PTSD, and I'm waiting for a right knee and hip replacement - but like so many veterans out there I am simply being failed by the system. 

The ongoing malpractice and mistreatment of the Military community is a well documented fact. Veterans have stated that they have considered self harm, and in some cases suicide because of the lack of action and empathy by these agencies. The recent appg for veterans survey showed 80-86% of veterans were unhappy with the claims system and service provided by veterans uk .

I want a full public inquiry, and a new fair and transparent system set up with veterans treated as human beings and part  of the enquiry is the removal of the war disablement claims system from veterans uk / mod .

i recently won my war pension tribunal and got both hips accepted for osteoarthritis and my knee and veterans uk awarded me 0% ie not even a £1 increase , this pushed me to contemplate suicide as took 7 years to get my hips accepted due to service , the system and staff are horrendous and the medical advisors go out their way to waken your case by falsifying reports and deliberately naming injuries incorrectly to limit compensation- It’s a national scandal
