**Update**

On Monday morning I met with principal Tyner, Rich Saint (VUSD Operations) and Erik Reynolds (VUSD risk management) . We discussed options about how to make the fields at Mound school safe. They do have a team that comes out and gases the gophers every 5 weeks and periodically fill holes. My issue is the current levelness of the field. After 15 years of not being legally allowed to use pesticides to treat gophers and doing what they can , the gophers still come back every 5 weeks. The grounds are in terrible shape and in need of releveling. VUSD mentioned their irrigation still works and they did patch up some holes with sod a whole back. We may have to handle this as a Mound School issue. Each school will have to tackle this on their own. We will take VUSD’s functioning irrigation but I don’t think the way they are currently treating the gophers is adequate. If we re-level the field we may have to destroy the existing irrigation. 

I have a another meeting coming up with Tyner and other parents on our safety committee. Mound does have some school funds raised from fundraisers dating many years back that we may be able to ise For this. We need landscape architects that want to offer a discounted price to do this job and will allow parent volunteers to help with labor. My Dad will bring in the tractors ! And can most likely get a discount from Laubacher Farm’s farming neighbor, Southland Sod. There are some very drought friendly and affordable sod varieties on the market now, much cheaper than AstroTurf.
