These are working mothers who are fighting for the lives of their children. They are trying to break the cycle of being a victimizer or being victims. They need to be empowered and supported.  As victims of domestic violence, they made the choice to give it all up to save their children's lives. But how can they rebuild their lives when the system that is 'protecting them' throws them to the wolves' after 3 - 6 months in a transitional shelter. The average stable family is unable to find housing in 6 months; more so,  families going through this period of instability. Tell the New York State Government to increase the length of stay in transitional housing  for victims of domestic violence ,  giving  them the time needed to find affordable housing and increase their independence.
