To whom it may concern, 

The citizens and residents of Maple, Ontario in the Lebovic Campus area are petitioning Vaughan City Council and City of Vaughan Parks Planning committee to work with our group to establish a fair and acceptable off-leash framework in the Mill Race Park area and/or adjacent field of Nellie McClung Public school. We would also be open to exploring other available sites near the Lebovic Campus.

Like many communities across Canada, our community is populated with families of all kinds. Many of those families have dogs that require exercise and social time. Furthermore, the number of dogs has increased since the Covid-19 Pandemic has begun creating an even greater need for off-leash time and space. 

As a community of dog owners, we believe that all residents should have access to off-leash areas within walking distance. Given that there are no designated off-leash areas within walking distance of the Mill Race Park,  our community of responsible dog owners is requesting that an off-leash dog enclosure be established in our area. 

We have several proposals that could work well to allow safe, shared access to community spaces.  Including: 

• Establishing an enclosed designated off-leash area in the proposed area. See layout attached. 
• Establishing scheduled access to the soccer pitch behind the tennis courts for off-leash use
• Establishing seasonal scheduled access to the field adjacent to Nellie McLung P.S

We would appreciate the opportunity to be included in the discussion and planning of off-leash dog spaces.
