The dangerous tranquilliser has been found in THC vapes as well as illicit sedatives in the UK.

People are buying cannabis vapes with illicit sedatives to treat pain, anxiety and insomnia, risk unknowingly consuming powerful animal tranquillisers, that can cause skin cancers and overdoses. 

The drug Xylazine, is prevalent in the US, where it is often found mixed with opioids such as heroin or fentanyl, and has caused thousands of deaths. 

Research from King’s college London has found that its presence has been steadily growing in Britain and has caused multiple deaths since the first fatality was identified in 2022. Guardian April 10th 2024.

This petition is about the complete banning of disposable single use vapes favoured by under 18’s. Sadly every new drug trend to emerge in the USA, comes to the UK.  In the past it often took a few years for this to happen, now with the power of the internet and social media, it is happening within weeks or months. 

I have absolutely no doubt, that as hundreds of thousands of under 18’s become Vapers, some of them will encounter disposable vapes that have been contaminated with a range of dangerous substances. That is why I need as many people as possible to sign this petition. 

On the back of this petition I am writing a book for parents and young people about vaping, which a London publisher is interested in.
