In 2018 61.7% of adults smokers, that is 55.0 million adults, had quit smoking.

By 2021 it was estimated that that there were 82 million Vapers worldwide.

This means that Big-tobacco's worries that the disastrous 50% of smokers quitting smoking, would put them out of business never happened.

The fact is that across the world, O.94 billion women and 1.47 billion men continue to smoke tobacco. So their business is still profiting billions from the ill-health of smokers.

On top of that lucrative business, Big-tobacco and the vaping industry are now reaping massive profits from conning 82 million ex-smokers to continue their nicotine addiction by vaping. There is no long term guarantee that vaping will not in decades to come, be damaging the health of millions of us, including our children.

That the vaping industry had no qualms at all about increasing their profits even more by targeting our children and young people with disposable vapes, loaded with as much nicotine as the strongest cigarettes. It is now reported the that 20% of young people in the UK are vaping.

I know that the UK government and our devolved parliaments are planning to completely ban disposable vapes, to protect the young.  That may not happen until 2025 or even 2026, by which time hundreds of thousands more children will have become addicted to nicotine. There are no plans yet in place to support these child Vapers quit their addiction, when and if the ban ever happens.

The 5 million vapes dumped weekly will continue to pollute our rivers and seas, as the hard to recycle plastic and exploding batteries continue to be a serious environmental problem.
