This petition is opposing Ordinance G-2020-10 and asks that it be voted down.

The petition:

WHEREAS, we the people do not support mandatory face mask ordinances.

This is an egregious abuse of power on the part of the Evansville City Council towards the liberty of the individual citizens of Evansville and people who do business within the city.

We the people do wholeheartedly support individual liberty and believe that it is the government's first and only job to protect the individual and their liberty. Allowing them natural rights to govern over their own bodies in a way that they see as responsible and accountable for themselves.

We the people also equally support the liberty of businesses and property owners to enforce their own regulations for COVID prevention on their property or establishment.

Our view on liberty is not unequally yoked against anyone. Business may have their rules and we must follow them or be told to leave. If asked to leave, laws are already in place for trespassing.

The addition of yet another ordinance is not the solution the Evansville City Council should consider.

The Evansville City Council should be transparent and accountable towards the people who gave them their positions. Council members and many news sources are talking about this mandate with no reference to the ordinance (G-2020-10). One member of the Evansville City Council has even shared a petition in favor of mandating masks without representing any views opposing the ordinance they did ask for peoples input when making the facebook post.
