Not having a traffic light on Nanaimo and 3rd or 4th effects lots of people in this neighbourhood. First of all it effects the kids who would love to go to the park just a block away from where I want this traffic light. It also effects the older kids in the neighbourhood because it may be harder to meet up with the their friends who live on the other side of Nanaimo. Not having a traffic light there also effects the bus users because there are bus stops on both sides of Nanaimo and at the moment it is hard to get to them. So having a traffic light would make it easier to use the bus on Nanaimo between 1st and 6th. And lastly it effects the adults who work on commercial. Being able to safely cross at Nanaimo and 3rd could be easier and faster for them. One last unsafe part of crossing at Nanaimo and 3rd at the moment is that it looks clear and then a car whips around the corner from the west of Nanaimo because cars cut through there all the time. 
I believe it is important to have a traffic light on Nanaimo and 3rd because it would make the corner safer and it would make it faster to cross Nanaimo. I know think that because we don’t have a light there some kids in the neighbourhood have to walk down to 6th to go to garden park. I know that corner is terrifying to cross and the people driving on Nanaimo do not stop for pedestrians. One time I was crossing and a motorcycle turned onto Nanaimo and it felt like it sped up! I am always terrified to cross there. 
If we get a traffic light on Nanaimo and 3rd or 4th I believe it will make the neighbourhood safer and enable people to go to Comercial Drive, Garden park and hopefully meet up with friends easier. And if we get a traffic light there it is less likely that someone will get hit by a car on that corner. I hope that I convinced you to sign this petition because if we get this traffic light our community is going to be safer.
