Change of Platform for all City Bound trains from Melton

As part of much needed Ballarat Line Upgrade, V/Line has made the decision to run all City bound train from the prehistoric Platform 2 at Melton Train station which will present a challenge for all commuters specifically for passengers with special needs. Here are some of the points to consider

- Platform 2 doesn't have the basic amenities such as proper weather shelter, Toilets, Customer Service Desk etc

- Bus terminal links to Platform 1. If there are connecting bus services with train, passengers would need to walk all the way through the tunnel to catch city bound trains

- Platform 2 has a single and a very narrow access ramp which presents a significant challenge for mobility impaired travelers

- From a safety standpoint, there is significant gap between the platform and the train deck which is not safe for young children, pram and Wheelchair access

What amazes me that the design of Ballarat Line upgrade initiative didn't think through this well ahead and there has been no community consultation on this change. I believe there are no plans in the near future to revamp Platform 2. Please sign the petition if you agree. If we get enough support, we might be able to get V/Line to reconsider this
