Uxbridge Parents for Accountability & Transparency
The Issue
This has been updated with information regarding Dr Baldassarre's drunk driving arrest in January 2025.
Timeline of Events
- May 2023: 6 out of 7 SC members resigned due to threats from the Superintendent; Superintendent used his authority to encourage a parent of a child with special needs to pursue legal action against SC members (Ed Davis Report, 2023).
- July-September 2023: Superintendent posts a series of blogs on a blog he previously promoted as an UPS blog. The blogs include attacks on Selectboard members as well as Uxbridge parents. School Committee requests the Superintendent to stop the divisive blog posts and he continues. (Blog).
- September 2023: Superintendent posts a blog, juxtaposing parents who voice concerns about schools to the Columbine shooters, who killed 15 people (Columbine Blog)
- September 2023: Uxbridge father Stephen Mandile speaks at the September 5th SC meeting, expressing his concerns with the superintendent. Within a few days, the Superintendent issues a No Trespassing Order (NTO) on Stephen Mandile and he is unable to attend his children's school events, pick up his children at school or go on school grounds. The Superintendent harmed a father and students solely to retaliate on him for speaking out against him.
- September 2023: Superintendent attempts to get a "harassment prevention order" on Steve Mandile due to not liking Steve speaking about him and fails. In the audio from court, Dr. Baldassarre vows to continue to pursue harassment prevention orders against anyone who "does this to him" (speaks about him negatively).
- October 2023: After the SC refused to appeal the NTO, Steve Mandile pursues legal action in order for him to be able to participate in his children's school activities.
- November 2023: The NTO is immediately lifted by the courts as it was unconstitutional and clearly retaliatory.
- January 2024: The School Committee completes Dr. Baldassarre's evaluation. The first evaluation and only evaluation he has had in 20 months. The review details some successes of the district, but the concerns expressed by the committee include the many controversies and the Superintendents unprofessional behavior. Michael Baldassarre Evaluation
- May 2024: The Uxbridge Public Schools FY25 budget fails, many who voted no on the budget cite concerns regarding the Superintendents erratic and unprofessional behavior, citing concerns with him being in charge of a 30 million dollar budget.
- January 2025: Superintendent is arrested for drunk driving on January 18th at 2:40am. He was pulled over after nearly hitting another vehicle going 100mph on 495 in Bolton. This action nearly caused an accident and could have ended the lives of innocent people. The State Police officer cited that Baldassarre was extremely uncooperative with the requests and directions of the officers. Worcester T&G Article Regarding Arrest
- WHDH Video Regarding Arrest
- January 2025: The Uxbridge School Committee voted to put Baldassarre on administrative leave (paid) and named Dr. Karen Dwyer as Assistant Superintendent. The School Committee will consult with legal counsel and reconvene next week.
We wish nothing but the best for Dr. Baldassarre in the future, but believe the damage he has done in our town needs to end. He is a liability and a poor role model for our students and staff.

It is worth noting - In other districts he held leadership positions in, petitions were formed in support of beloved teachers that Dr. Baldassarre allegedly treated unfairly. This behavior appears to be a pattern.
