Some of you asked if I had always been involved in activism.
I grew up in southern Africa, so activism is familiar to me.
When I moved to the US, I expected to engage in a peaceful, quiet life. But I didn't know that I had denounced that life by joining the LDS Movement, also known as the LDS Church. I had no idea I would be on the streets and in court to demand justice. It is not my preferred style of living, but I cannot be silent when I witness injustice happening so close to me.
Imagine the freedom and justice I fantasized about before coming to the US. Imagine the idea of living in Utah, where I was meeting others to prepare to meet God. I expected justice, and it seemed there were no problems with it. I felt like I had arrived in Heaven.
