CONVERT ALL PMR'S TO PSE'S.

The Issue

An MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the APWU (American Postal Workers Union) and the USPS dated 092414 terminates most employees with the title of PMR (Postmaster Relief/Replacement). These employees work 6 days a week, no benefits, non-postal wages and typically run all the small post offices you see across the United States. Many PMR's belong to NAPUS, (National Association of Postmasters) an organization they believed would support and fight for their jobs. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Not one person or organization with in the USPS fought for the PMR jobs.

This MOU terminates PMR's and places PTF's (Part-time Flex) and PSE's (Postal Support Employees) in their positions. In all cases both titles will pay an increased wage, and in the case of the PSE, many of them are new hires off the street. The PMR's are being asked to train their replacements. The PMR's were encouraged to apply for a PSE position, HOWEVER, there is no indication that they are/were a current employee and no promise of one of these PSE positions.

The APWU says they are ADDING 9000 Union jobs, but what they are not saying is that they are actually terminating over 9000 jobs in the process.

What contradicts this process is the financial aspect of the decision. It in no way saves money, but to the contrary, adds an intentional expense in the hiring/testing/training process. This could all be avoided if the PMR's are simply converted to PSE positions. In addition to these costs, the repositioning of current employees and grievances puts an undue burden on the already crippled USPS.

We are speaking up and using our voices to say, "this decision needs to be reversed and modified" and we need your help.  Would you please support the PMR Petition and help us save our jobs.  There are 9481 of us and we really appreciate any support/ideas/suggestions we can get!
